Customer Analytics Sprint
The first GVC Customer Analytics Sprint took place in May 2021 over 5 days. A diverse team of 8 student data scientists entered into the challenge offered by Zimmer Biomet, a leading company specialized in manufacturing medical devices. The goal was to characterize customers in order to predict the volume and revenue in the following years. The structure of the sprint allowed students to dive in quickly and expand their creativity as a team to drive for actionable results.
With the guidance of Prof. Ikhlaq Sidhu and in collaboration with the Zimmer representatives, the students visualized the sales data, identified growth signals on product mix by geography, and established hands-on data-driven sales strategies. The sprint was a huge success as the student participants gained real-world experience - “a great learning opportunity with highly diverse perspectives”, said by a student participant. Going forward, the Zimmer leadership team is continuing to work with GVC on a monthly basis to meet on-demand analysis needs.
